Chris Gane started his career in avionics as a software engineer with General Dynamics in the UK following a degree in Physics and Computing at Brighton University. In 1996 he joined Thales Optronics (then Pilkington Optronics) in Glasgow working on the optronics masts for submarines.  In 1998 he became Director of the Naval, Airborne and Logistic Support Business sectors responsible for operations in both the UK and at the sister factory in Guyancourt, near Versailles, France.  In 2000 he was appointed Managing Director of Thales Optronics Ltd. During this time he was responsible for integrating the newly acquired Avimo companies at Bury St. Edmunds (W Vinten Ltd.) Erith (Helio Mirror Co. Ltd.) and Taunton (Avimo Ltd.) He was promoted to Vice President, Defence Optronics in 2004 responsible for all optronics business in the UK, France, Netherlands and Canada.

Chris Gane took up his current role as Vice President and Managing Director of the Business Line Simulation in January 2007.
