He began his career in the field of physics research, later moving on to hold several different positions within industry. In 1990, Reynald joined Thomson-CSF's Sonar and Anti-Submarine division, of which he went on to hold the role of General Manager (1996-1999). He then joined the Air Defence business group, becoming its Senior EVP (2000). In 2003, he was appointed SVP, Air Traffic Management and then interim SVP, Security (until 2006). He was appointed SVP Operations in 2004.

He has held his current position since 2008.
