The Singapore Airshow is designed to serve as a global marketplace and networking platform for the military and civil aviation community.
Hosted at the Thales booth, Thales Alenia Space has chosen to highlight three space systems, COSMO-SkyMed, Pleiades HR Instrument and Syracuse III.
The first represents one of the most advanced systems for earth observation in the world. As program prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space provides the Italian Ministry of Defense and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) with the first dual satellite-based Earth observation system manufactured in Europe, the COSMO-SkyMed constellation. Its extraordinary capability in terms of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) technology, which will enable to manage environmental risks, and will undertake territorial and security surveillance for civil and military applications, is sure to catch the attention of specialized visitors during the event. The two first satellites of the constellation have been launched.
The second - the Pleiades project - is part of the French-Italian observation system ORFEO, which covers both civil and military requirements: Pleiades is the high-resolution optical imaging component of this system, while Cosmo-SkyMed provides radar imaging. The high-resolution imaging instruments offer high resolution (70 cm) and a wide field of view (20 km), and produce images in both the visible and near-infrared bands.
The third, Syracuse III, is the first military satellite of its generation that combines broadband capacity, flexibility, easy reconfigurability, highly secure voice and data transmission, along with a dedicated ground control segment. Built by Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor for French defense procurement agency DGA, Syracuse III satellites are based on Spacebus platforms, hardened to resist nuclear attack and feature state-of-the-art payload operating in the SHF (super high frequency) and EHF (extremely high frequency) bands. Thales Alenia Space partnered with Thales Land & Joint, the ground segment prime contractor. Syracuse system has been chosen by NATO to provide SHF (super high frequency) communications to member countries, within the scope of the post-2000 NATO Satcom program. Syracuse 3A and 3B satellites are fully operational in orbit.
Thales Alenia Space will showcase these technological "jewels" with graphic panels, pictures, videos and mock-ups.
The Thales stand will be located in the French Pavilion federated by the GIFAS :Stand n° F02 with 150 sqm. The Thales chalet will be located in CD 69-71
