After some software experience, I was hired to work in a team on an avionics project, supporting the technical work package manager. Then I shifted to the fascinating world of the "crash programme", which is a major programme with critical deadlines and cost constraints.

Then came a complete change: I became head of a Development Quality team. In three years this job broadened my view of how the company operates. I learnt team and programme management, including contracts with Indian suppliers. When the Programme Manager I was paired with left his job, I was naturally chosen to replace him. The job is challenging (costs, deadlines, performance, customer satisfaction) and requires the ability to stand back and achieve the right balance between work and family life. This means earning cash for the company and yet finding time to look after my little daughter!
