My career has had three main periods. As assistant to a financial director, at the age of 28, I had to learn how to find the right arguments to convince operational staff. Then I was appointed financial director of a medium-sized subsidiary and helped implement a restructuring plan that severely affected my unit. Whether in the Netherlands or France, my colleagues and I are responsible for ensuring proper integration in the Group of units for which I provide the financial control. Working and living in France have given me an opportunity to think about what makes mobility successful: the cultural differences are not an insurmountable obstacle, once you are prepared to work as a team. But I do notice that the French do not have the same idea of punctuality as the Dutch!
