Luigi Pasquali has been appointed President and CEO of Thales Alenia Space Italy, replacing Carlo Alberto Penazzi.

Cannes, June 04, 2008 - Luigi Pasquali has been appointed President and CEO of Thales Alenia Space Italy, replacing Carlo Alberto Penazzi. He will also take on international responsibilities in the parent company as Deputy to the CEO of Thales Alenia Space, Reynald Seznec.

Prior to this appointment, Luigi Pasquali was Chief Operating Officer of Telespazio - the Finmeccanica Group company that, together with Thales Alenia Space, forms the Space Alliance - since 2005. He was previously Director of the Telecommunications Department at Alenia Spazio (before the company was renamed Thales Alenia Space Italy), in charge of communications satellite systems for defense and security, commercial applications and broadband development.

After earning degree in electronics engineering at La Sapienza University, he focused finance and business administration in post graduate courses at Bocconi SDA and IRI Management School, Luigi Pasquali began his career in 1984 as project engineer with Selenia (now Selex Sistemi Integrati). He worked on air traffic control systems and networks, as well as international projects in Europe, Australia and the USA.

He also supervised telecommunications projects for Stet/Telecom Italia and Atlanet (telecommunications operator of Telefónica de España).
